WITS: YOUR GUIDE TO SCORPIO SEASON 2023 + SCORPIO ZODIAC STONES
On October 23rd, the Sun plunges us into the dark waters of Scorpio, where we find ourselves in the heart of a very karmic, Eclipse Season. As we move away from the surface level pleasantries of Venus-ruled Libra, we get down to the nitty-gritty, as we dive into the existential truths of our own shadows, during the time of year when the veil between worlds is paper thin. Now we exit Libra’s relational themes of the 7th house and progress on into the 8th house; a house that brings lessons through death and rebirth, sexuality and the fruits of relationships that can be achieved once we are no longer operating as a solo act.
As the elemental shift from Air to Water, takes us out of the cerebral headspace and into the deep complexities and intensities of our emotional bodies, it can cause us to feel as if we are marinating in a pressure cooker. While the water element attempts to ebb + flow, the modality of its fixed nature resists change for as long as it can. This Season, the subconscious emotions that have been lurking beneath the surface, will inevitably erupt, as water breaks through the dam and teaches us the strength of our own emotional perseverance. Where Libra Season was a time of bypassing heavy emotions, Scorpio Season asks us to bravely face what we need to acknowledge. Where the previous Season was ruled by the planet of love, Scorpio Season is dramatically different, as it is co-ruled by Mars, the planet of war and power, and Pluto, the planet of upheaval and transformation. As we work with this energy, we can expect to face themes that highlight our primal instincts and passions that relate to the ways in which we yield our power. This month, we have a tremendous amount of focus and determination at our disposal, that amplifies what can be achieved by the sheer force of our own willpower. Where Libra aimed for win-win scenarios, Scorpio is backed by her powerful negotiating skills, which she uses to obtain the outcome that she desires. This month, personal magnetism, persistence and resourcefulness is potent, making it a great time to pursue goals, but there is a need to use caution. If used incorrectly, the fierceness of this single-minded energy can quickly tip over into obsessiveness, or unethical use of power, if not used correctly.
Scorpio energy is not for the faint of heart, as its natural connection to the underworld, creates a season that is occupied by occult practices, subliminal messaging, psychic intuition and emotional intelligence. As the energy penetrates our subconscious, we find ourselves experiencing a vast emotional range that can require increased effort around emotional regulation. It can feel as if we are being guided to probe into the dark corners of our psyche, as we seek out hidden complexities and shadows that haven’t been outwardly acknowledged. This is the season of uncovering, making it the perfect time to incorporate new healing modalities or to work with occult practitioners that can offer deeper insight.
As this Season works in tangent with Eclipse Season, we navigate the depths of our own psychological shadows and learn that fear is often disguised as control. When you can make friends with your darkness and bring it out into the light, you become the alchemist who understands that regeneration comes from the ability to shed and transform. Scorpio teaches us that we have the power to transmute the parts of ourselves that once worked against us into a tool that strengthens our own personal power. Darkness isn’t taboo, it’s essential, for without the dark, the light would not exist.
