If you know us, you know we love a layered necklace look and you are fully aware that we love to show off Acid Queen necklaces by piling them on, more is more right!?

We always get so many questions about the best way to go about doing this and before you start throwing all your necklaces and pendants around your neck, a few tips are in order. You want to keep in mind that you want your layering to look effortless. In this short guide we’ll give you a few simple tips and tricks so you too, can layer like a queen!

1. START AT THE TOP:

Your first piece should always be the shortest necklace of the bunch. We typically like to start with a necklace that has a chain length of around 14”-16”. The only time you don’t want a shorter necklace as your base? If you are wearing a shirt with a high neckline. If your necklace “fights” the neckline of your shirt or top, start layering below the neckline.

2. MIX UP THE LENGTHS OF YOUR NECKLACES:

Be sure you’ve got a healthy mix of different length necklaces, starting from the shortest of 14”-16”, the next should have a chain length of 18”-22” and the last should hang a couple inches below that at 24”-30”. Of course you can play around with what works best on you, but you don’t want them to hang over each other, especially if they are larger pieces.

3. GETTING THE RIGHT LENGTHS:

Not all of your necklaces will start out being the right lengths to layer. Although, Using a removable extender like this one can help make each necklace the perfect length while keeping everything in order and getting you that layered necklace look in no time.

o It will give you the extra length you need for the longer necklace to hang lower

o It will help prevent the necklaces from tangling together and

o It will keep the necklaces from turning around on your neck.

You simply take the clasp of the extender and hook it through all the ends of your necklaces. Then, take each of the necklace clasps and hook them on to different links on the extender. This turns your layering into one neat ‘necklace’ that stays in place throughout the day!

4. WEAR AT LEAST THREE NECKLACES AT A TIME:

As mentioned above, we recommend choosing necklaces in three varieties of length- short, medium and long, to get the most out of this look. However this only applies when the top necklaces are on the smaller side. With larger pendants we recommend going with two, play around with the lengths and see what you like!

5. USE A STATEMENT PIECE AS YOUR LONGEST NECKLACE:

Why not add a bold necklace to incorporate into your layered look? This acts as the focal point of the look, while the smaller necklaces look as though you always have those on, and just threw on this stunner piece to punctuate your look.

6. KEEP YOUR METALS UNIFIED:

Choose metals in similar shades to create cohesion with your layers.

We hope you enjoyed this quick guide to layering and can’t wait to see what you guys put together! You’re always welcome to request custom chain length on necklaces by contacting us, or adding a note to your order (additional charges may apply).
